The Restored Covenant Edition of the Book of Mormon was first published by the Zarahemla Research Foundation, under the guidance of Ray Treat, in 1999 to restore words from the Original Manuscript and the Printer’s Manuscript that were either left out or changed. Due to improved imaging technology, it is now possible to read some words in both manuscripts which were illegible on the microfilm originally used in the 90s. As a result, those words which are now legible in the manuscripts and were previously published incorrectly have been corrected in the 2023 edition. Because of errors and changes made to the Printer’s Manuscript after 1930, the Original Manuscript is used unless it is unreadable or nonextant.
