The Restored Covenant Edition of the Book of Mormon was first published in 1999 by the Zarahemla Research Foundation under the guidance of Ray Treat. Its purpose was to restore words from the Original Manuscript and the Printer’s Manuscript that were either left out or changed. Improved imaging technology has now made it possible to read some words in both manuscripts which were illegible on the microfilm originally used in the 90s. As a result, those words which are now legible in the manuscripts and were previously published incorrectly have been corrected in the 2023 edition. Due to errors and changes made to the Printer’s Manuscript after 1830, the Original Manuscript is used except when text is unreadable or nonextant. Corrections made in the 2023 edition, along with images of the manuscript, can be found below.
